John Voos is a photographer who is comfortable photographing people from all walks of life, from Prime Ministers, to Russian soldiers. His skills were tested daily while working for the Independent newspaper he joined the Independent in 1986 and stayed with them for 16 years.
John is an editorial photographer who values professional integrity, has a sharp news sense, and an eye for detail. In two consecutive years he has had a selection of photographs published in the World Press Photo competition yearbook.
John worked as a freelance for The Times and as a staff photographer for the Independent newspaper and was assigned to cover domestic and international stories.
Assignments overseas included covering stories in conflict zones such as Afghanistan and the Middle East.
John moved from taking photos to editing photos transitioning from photographer to features picture editor and acting picture editor for both the Independent and the Sunday Independent.
John now works for the international news agency Thomson Reuteurs.
