About the image:

St. Paul’s Cathedral stands proud in the ruins. On the extreme left was the H.Q. of the Salvation Army. Traffic and pedestrians can be seen going through Queen Victoria Street, destroyed after an enemy air raid during World War II. Between 7 September 1940 and 10 May 1941, over 18,000 tonnes of high explosives were dropped on London in 71 air raids. Prime Minister Winston Churchill sent word that St Paul’s Cathedral should be protected at all costs – it would boost morale to save Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. photograph by Frank Rust Northcliffe Collection,1941.

The printing:

C-type prints are notable for their continuous tone and vibrant colours. The first widely used colour print process, modern c-type prints are printed from high resolution digital files produced from drum-scanned negatives or transparencies.

C-type prints use dye-based photographic papers and should not be confused with inkjet, or giclée prints. Read more about C-type printing HERE.
